Building Renovation in Mouraria

Beelt has been selected to carry out the full renovation of a building in Mouraria (Travessa do Jordão), a historic central area of Lisbon. The building dates from the late 19th to early 20th century and features the typical “gaioleiro” style, a construction type that still makes up much of the old city’s fabric.

The project, designed by Saraiva e Associados, involves converting the existing building into a mixed-use property with residential and commercial spaces. The building will have 4 floors plus the attic, resulting in 3 apartments and a small shop. The renovation includes structural reinforcement, interior remodeling, and restoration of façades and roofs.

The transformation focuses on heritage preservation while adapting the spaces to modern living, introducing updated bathrooms, kitchenettes, wall and floor finishes, and new utility systems.

The construction work starts this month and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2024.
