October welcomed the second edition of Beelt Together
October welcomed the second edition of Beelt Together, a moment of reflection and collaboration that brought together team members from different areas of the company. During this gathering, teams analyzed Beelt’s present and envisioned its future in an exercise of dialogue and cooperation that strengthens our organizational culture.
(Re)Building with responsibility and safety
The construction industry is a sector in constant transformation, and ensuring structural integrity is one of its main priorities. In Portugal, where seismic risk is a reality, legislation requires structures designed or adapted to withstand such events.
Beelt obtains ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications
Obtaining ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification marked a key milestone for Beelt in quality and environmental commitment. Started in late 2022, the process aimed to optimize internal processes and enhance service to our customers.
Building green with cork
The cork industry is strategic for Portugal, the world’s leading cork producer and processor. About 37% of global cork is processed in the country, mainly by small companies, with cork exports making up nearly 3% of Portugal’s total exports.
Prefabrication: precision and efficiency
Prefabrication in construction refers to the process of manufacturing building components, such as walls, slabs, beams, pillars and structural elements, offsite – in a factory or controlled environment – before they are transported and assembled on site. The components are manufactured based on detailed and precise designs, so that they then fit together perfectly on site.
Innovations in sustainable coatings
How do we clad our buildings? Have you considered more sustainable solutions? Today, choosing eco-friendly cladding is essential. New materials offer environmental and health benefits, improving energy efficiency, reducing pollution, and enhancing well-being. They make buildings more sustainable, cost-efficient, and compliant with stricter environmental standards.
Water efficiency in buildings
It is estimated that in Portugal, household expenses related to housing, water, electricity, and gas exceed 30% of total monthly and annual family costs, according to data from INE (Statistics Portugal) from July 2017. In buildings, both nationally and across the European Union, a potential water saving of 30% is estimated through the adoption of water efficiency measures.
The major challenges of construction in Portugal
Portugal’s housing crisis has driven the government to launch measures to boost supply, as the country needs more homes—fast. The construction sector plays a key role but faces major challenges: rising costs, labor shortages, and difficulty attracting new talent, as Beelt’s General Director, Bernardo Soares Coelho, explains in an interview with idealista/news. Licensing remains another major hurdle.
Timber building construction?
The construction industry still has a long way to go in terms of sustainability. One growing trend is timber construction, specifically CLT (Cross Laminated Timber). This is a more sustainable alternative, considered low-impact because it is renewable and part of the natural carbon absorption cycle of trees.
Sustainable construction: a path to reducing energy poverty in Portugal
Beelt’s main responsibility is to correctly implement its clients’ projects, but we believe we should also play an active role in promoting and recommending best practices for sustainable construction, aiming for a better future for the community.
Simple Vilamoura: construction begins on 5 villas
Another project has just kicked off in the Algarve, fully developed by Beelt. The company was selected by the developer Lusoproa to build 5 villas, each with one basement and two above-ground floors, totaling approximately 1,400 m² of gross construction area, in a project named Simple Vilamoura.
